Things to do in Paris

Paris rewards the curious walker. World-class museums sit a short stroll from market streets, riverside bookstalls and neighbourhood bistros, and the city looks as good at midnight on the Seine as it does from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Every quarter has its own character, from the lanes of the Marais to the hilltop streets of Montmartre.

The best time to visit is late April to early June or September to mid-October, when the weather is mild and queues are shorter. Summer brings long evenings and big crowds; winter is cold but quiet, cheaper and festive in December. Book summit and museum slots ahead in any season.
